Surveying Facts

3 of the men on Mt. Rushmore were surveyors; George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln.

The Pyramids were constructed using surveying fundamentals that are still used today.

Daniel Boone, Lewis and Clarke, Henry David Thoreau, and Benjamin Banneker were all surveyors.

Surveyors were responsible for measuring the distance to the moon using specialized survey prisms placed on the moon's surface by astronauts.  The distance was accurately measured within just a few feet.  A remarkable feat considering the distance.

Land boundaries have been marked since the beginning on civilization.  The Old Testament warns against the moving of boundary stones in Deuteronomy 27:17, "Cursed is the man who moves his neighbors boundary stone."
